Honey, you look like the Fourth of July!
All Smiles
June 30, 2008
I read recently that June 20th is the happiest day of the year. The anticipations of summer keep your cheery. School is out and the long sunlight hours keep your serotonin levels heavy and high. Okay, I’ll bite. June can be a languid, but happy time in sports as well. Some fun stuff to keep your attention but nothing too noteworthy (NBA finals notwithstanding).
But June is Pride is Gay is skimpy clothes and by the transitive property…. hey, June is a good time for the gays.
The Night Out at the Nationals (which Nellie’s co-sponsored) rocked the house. The Gay Men’s Chorus sang the national anthem for the boys in blue and red and the rest of us swooned beneath the double rainbows that only God could paint the sky with. I myself tried to start the wave but only managed to scare up a reaction from the crowd by encouraging the use of “jazz hands.” That worked….for a while.
Now we’re into July and we have a lot to look forward to: For the women, we have the U.S. women’s soccer team (including local hometown favorite Abby Wambach) preparing for the Olympics in Europe. For the guys, there is the U.S. Olympic swimming trials; and for everyone awaits the finals of Wimbledon, as well as the race to the bottom between the Nationals (baseball) and the Mystics (basketball). Both have fared poorly lately but enjoy wonderful, loyal support from fans, just like we do at Nellie’s. We need your loyal support so come join us for a beer on the rooftop above or the restaurant below.
Here’s a shot out to our boys playing flag football at the upcoming Beach Bowl in Rehoboth.
Have a good week everyone!
