Jasmine Gethers, District Chronicles, January 30, 2011

From the corner of the room, steps out drag queen, Ms. Shi-Queeta Lee, a host of the drag bingo extravaganza held every Tuesday night at Nellie's Sports Bar. Gay Sports Bars a Growing Market
By Kurt Soller, Bloomberg Businessweek, January 17, 2011
In the last few years, nearly a dozen sports bars catering to a gay clientele have opened around the U.S. and their success is spurring entrepreneurs to open more. The trailblazer, Nellie's Sports Bar, opened on U Street in Washington, D.C., in 2007. It was designed specifically to appeal to both hard-core sports fans and clubland loyalists, and the decor features a mix of team pennants and pictures of Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) models. Drag Bingo Review
Dawn Mariette, GA, Monday,August 23, 2010
Nellie's Sports Bar SUNDAY BRUNCH REVIEW---Great spot to catch a good show and chow down on some delicious food. The cheese grits are fantastic...they almost taste like my grandmothers. If you're from the "dirty south" you know that it can be hard finding a location past South Carolina that can do grits any justice. I would say their menu has a Spanish flair along with your traditional brunch staples. The offerings included savory plantains, pork medallions, Spanish rice, salad, hash browns, beans & sausage, waffles...(cooked by the best dam drag queen chef in the city), bacon, sausage, eggs, etc.

Now for the Nellie's show! All I can say is ladies and gentlemen bring your dollars... The show that we attended included song impersonations by Beyonce, Tina Turner, Miley Cyrus, Rhianna, and more. That little Beyonce is fine! You have to see for yourself. The best part about the show is that it was "5X better than Perry's Drag Review". Did I say 5X better!!!!! Every seat is a good seat, the wait staff is very attentive and they make sure everyone was seated and served.

Nellie's Sports Bar -- Debunking Stereotypes
Scott Carmack at NiteNetwork.com, Sunday, March 22, 2009
The prospect of me, an ex-athlete with “meathead like” tendencies, attending a gay bar by myself to watch the NCAA tournament seems outlandish. Nevertheless, last Saturday, I found myself downing Miller Lights at Nellie’s Sports Bar on U Street, alone, watching Duke scrape by Texas by the slightest or margins.
